The Romeoville Village Board met in executive session late into Wednesday night to consider a new three-year contract with its police officers.
The Romeoville chapter of the Combined County Police Association has been working without a contract since May 1.
According to union president Larry McNamara, Village Manager James Smithberg gave the union a written offer the first week of August. The members of the union ratified the contract two months ago.
The contract calls for a 15 percent pay increase over the three years, along with a flat rate longevity increase. McNamara said the union originally asked for a two-year contract but agreed to the village’s terms of three years.
