The newly formed Mokena Youth Commission is gearing up to hire a part-time coordinator.
Trustees have agreed to set aside Village Hall work space for the commission’s coordinator, whose pay can be drawn from the $7,500 the Village Board has allocated to the Youth Commission.
“This fulfills all the needs that we have,” said Rev. Robert Campbell, chairman of the commission.
The group will try to coordinate efforts aimed at youth development, so youngsters know what recreational, educational and character-building activities are available to them through parks, schools, churches and civic groups, Campbell said.

The commission will begin the search for a coordinator immediately, Campbell said.
