If only these walls could talk.
Forget the walls.
What about the pecan writing desk, the pink pig with wings or the cherry-wood buffet?
Now they could do some talking.
These furnishings, once the property of some high-end hotels, are for sale at Brownfield’s Reinvented Furniture Studio, 2619 N. Halsted St. The store, which opened three weeks ago, is owned by designers Randy and Donna Koeneman.
Koenemans’ store, which gets its name from the architectural term “Brownfield” for retrofitting or refitting buildings, is on the first floor of a three-story brownstone.

With everything crammed into a small space, the store looks as though someone is moving in or moving out.
Prices range from $35 to $50 for framed prints to $600 for a knockout white oak and leather depot desk.
The furnishings, acquired through hotel liquidations, have some character and style, a few knicks and bumps, and sometimes a missing drawer pull.
But the latter could mean a better price for the customer if he or she is willing to be creative. Decorative hardware also is sold at the store.
The Koenemans also plan to offer classes on craft techniques, such as stenciling and special finishing, later this fall.
Store hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. For class schedules, call 312-296-6570.
