An electrician working to renovate the new U.S. Robotics quarters, formerly AT&T offices, at 3800 Golf Rd., Rolling Meadows, was accidentally electrocuted Wednesday, authorities said.
Michael Bodnar, 40, of Chicago was working in an elevator shaft on top of an elevator car when he came in contact with a low-voltage circuit, said Rolling Meadows Deputy Police Chief Douglas Larsson.
Bodnar’s partner told police he was working inside the elevator car when he heard Bodnar yell for help. The partner said he ran to the second floor of the two-story building and found Bodnar shaking, as if being shocked by electricity.
The partner cut the power to the circuit and called paramedics, but they were unable to revive Bodnar. He was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m. at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights.
Bodnar was employed by Gallagher and Speck Contractors of Wood Dale.
