A Chicago man was charged Tuesday night with the kidnapping of an Arlington Heights resident who escaped while his captors were sleeping.
Arturo Salgado, 32, of 1362 N. Harding Ave. was charged by Arlington Heights police with aggravated kidnapping and possession of more than 400 grams of cocaine with intent to deliver, said Sgt. Gerald Besenhoffer.
Besenhoffer said Chicago police found cocaine in a house in the 2500 block of West Foster Avenue, Chicago, where the accuser was held.
The 42-year-old man told police he was abducted early Monday outside an Arlington Heights apartment complex in the 1100 block of East Algonquin Road in what he said was a failed attempt to recapture an alleged narcotics debt owed by his brother. Two suspects remained at large, police said.
The kidnapping occurred when the man, his wife and daughter were returning home.
