A resident whose dog allegedly bit two children within 15 minutes last week has been charged with two village ordinance violations, police said.
Martha Name, 32, of 2611 N. Ridge Ave., was charged this week with having a dog in a public park and two counts of permitting a dog to molest a person.
The first incident allegedly occurred Friday around 7:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of North Ridge Avenue. Name was walking her dog on a retractable leash, when it allegedly ran up and bit a 9-year-old boy on the arm while he was playing basketball in his driveway, police said.
Fifteen minutes later, the same dog, a shepherd-mix, allegedly seriously bit a 9-year-old girl in three different places on her body at a playground near Brookwood Drive and Waverly Road, police said. The girl required six stitches to close her wounds, police said.
In both incidents, the victims told police they didn’t approach the dog or provoke the animal.
Name posted $75 bond. Her court date in the Rolling Meadows Branch of the Cook County Court is scheduled for Sept. 10.
