County officials approved hiring a financial consultant to research how the county can pay for an estimated $11.1 million juvenile justice center.
County Board members got a glimpse of the proposed 51,166-square-foot facility last week. The 32-bed facility is being planned for 17 acres off Ware Road.
On Wednesday, members of the McHenry County Board’s Finance Committee approved spending $5,000 to hire Ron Norene, an independent financial consultant, to provide them with a detailed financial analysis and feasibility of constructing and operating a juvenile justice center.
County administrator Bill Barron said Norene will determine what the county’s existing debt is and if the debt could be refinanced to pay for the facility.
