Drivers who park at the Schaumburg train station will soon experience a rate increase–the first since the station was built 15 years ago.
As of Sept. 1, the daily rate to park at the lot will be $1, which is a 25-cent increase. Monthly rates will be $20, up from $12. Quarterly rates will be $50, up from $30.
The rate hike is needed, according to the village, to pay for upcoming parking lot improvements, which will include reconstructing the lot, replacing or repairing the shelters, creating more reserved-parking spaces and doing some landscaping. A construction date has yet to be set.
