No one dabbed away tears, but Sunday marked the last time the compulsories were used in Olympic gymnastics competition.

Instead, medals in future Summer Games will be determined solely by performance in the optionals.

“This was the last time in my life I’ll do compulsories,” said Dominique Moceanu after Sunday’s competition.

She didn’t seem too sad about the prospects.

As an added bonus, nobody will have to hear Johann Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus.” The song, which is required music during the compulsory floor exercise, was played 110 times Sunday.
