For followers of Microsoft czar Bill Gates, the big news at a bicoastal teleconference Monday wasn’t that his MSNBC joint venture with NBC News was able to launch on schedule– despite a one-hour “glitch”– but that he finally has admitted to watching TV.
“You’ll be happy to know, I now have a TV in my office,” Gates, a well-known detractor of the medium, told NBC’s Bob Wright.
Moderator Brian Williams, a MSNBC news anchor, responded in kind: “My big news, Bill, is that I’ve learned Windows.”

It was also announced the New York Times would join MSNBC, providing material for a weekly newsmagazine. Tentatively titled, “The Sunday Times on Saturday Night,” it will give viewers a video preview of the next day’s paper.
