Officials Thursday evening were investigating the cause of a residential fire that killed 35-year-old resident Karl Pockrus.
The body of Pockrus, a longtime Monee resident, was found in the bedroom after the blaze, which erupted earlier Thursday. He was alone in the residence, said Monee Police Sgt. John Cipkar.
The fire, which began about 2 a.m., caused “substantial” damage to the two-story frame structure at 5455 W. Mill St. Cipkar said. The fire was contained by Monee firefighters, who were assisted by firefighters from Peotone.
