Members of the Kane County Board on Tuesday awarded plaques and a standing ovation to two teenagers credited with saving the life of a motorcyclist.
Donald Gleason, 18, of St. Charles and 15-year-old Melissa Mowers were driving to Mowers’ home near Hampshire last month when they saw a motorcycle plunge into a ditch and catch fire.
“We saw a big ball of fire and figured something happened,” Gleason said.
Gleason and Mowers pulled the motorcyclist away from the wreckage and extinguished the flames from his shirt.
