The Kane County Forest Preserve District this week authorized funding for construction of a pedestrian bridge over Kirk Road near the Illinois Prairie Path in Batavia.

Commissioners unanimously approved a $123,200 expenditure, which represents 20 percent of the projected construction cost.

The remaining funds for the project are to come from the state.

Construction is expected to begin this fall.

Also this week, commissioners authorized nearly $53,000 to St. Charles-based Robert H. Anderson & Associates for additional engineering studies for a proposed bicycle bridge at the same site.
