Pete (Living Music) (star) (star) (star)
Pete Seeger turns 77 next month and this recording may well be his last. Solo or with sparse accompaniment, Seeger embodies traditional American folk, and on this collection, he carries the torch in strident style. Seeger proves he’s still a moving balladeer (“Sailing Down My Golden River”), a nimble-fingered banjo player (“Russian Song/Ode to Joy”) and a tireless social-environmental conscience (“Garbage”).
