Vice President Al Gore acknowledges he’s a bit of a “stiff” when it comes to appearances, but you wouldn’t have known it Tuesday at the National Association of Broadcasters convention.

Gore surprised an audience of advertising execs with several funny self-deprecating jabs, including that he was happy to be in sunny Las Vegas because it’s been “so cold in Washington that people who don’t know me better think I was frozen stiff.”

– Gore just missed Don Imus’ induction into the NAB’s Hall of Fame–something that would’ve tested the VP’s funny bone. Just a few weeks ago, the New York radio jock caused a stir at a Washington black-tie dinner with cracks about President Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. Imus said the Clintons couldn’t attend his induction because “they were out testifying somewhere.”
