OK, so there’s a reason black is the tried-and-true staple hanging in virtually every woman’s closet (except maybe Dolly Parton’s).
It always matches. It doesn’t show dirt. It is blessedly forgiving of major figure flaws.
But after several seasons of unremitting wear, it is also boring. And if you wear it often enough, you run the risk of being mistaken for a mortician. Or Morticia Addams.
On the other hand, nothing gives a psychological lift like color. Especially shout-it-out, joyful colors that will remind you of the days all you needed was a box of Crayolas to keep you happy.
So take a risk. Buy a complete, same-color outfit. Or if you’re think you’re blowing a wad on a full-disclosure outfit, modify. Buy a lime-green sweater, an orange ‘T,’ a lemon-yellow jacket-to wear together or separately over those black pants you refuse to throw away.
