Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

OK, so you’ve got it bad for someone -and you’ve got to let ’em know or you’ll burst! But how? Should you just walk up and tell them in the middle of the school cafeteria? (Uh huh; talk about losing your lunch!) Or have your best friend’s brother tell his girl-friend’s little sister to tell her second best friend’s classmate who sits next to your potential loverboy/girl? (Uh, what was that?) There are pros and cons to any approach, but you’ve got to try, right? (Unless you decide to let them come to you, which will work if you’re, like, Brad Pitt.) So take your pick-tell your true love:

– In person

Pros: You’ll know for sure that lover boy/girl gets the message (and you’ll get to look straight into those pretty brown/green/blue eyes).

Cons: The whole thought of looking into those pretty brown/green/blue eyes could turn you into a sweating, trembling, mumbling mess.

– By phone

Pros: You won’t worry about classmates walking by, smirking.

Cons: You might worry about loverboy/girl’s little sibs or best friend listening on the other line. (Keep an ear out for muffled giggling while loverboy/girl is talking.)

– With a note

Pros: You can write it over and over in the privacy of your room till you get it right, revealing your true, poetic self.

Cons: That note gets out and your true, poetic self could become major teasing material. A terrifying thought? Read on.

– With “secret admirer” notes

Pros: See the “con” in he previous “note” approach. Unless your handwriting is totally recognizable, you won’t have to worry about that little nightmare. (If you’re famous for dotting your i’s with smiley faces, skip ’em in your secret note.)

Cons: Loverboy/girl might think Hank Handsome or Greta Giggleface wrote the notes, be totally charmed -and you’re outta luck!

– e-mail

Pros: Being the geeky computer type is cool these days, so why not pour out your feelings byte by byte?

Cons: With all the hackers and alter egos roaming cyberspace, it’s tough to take any message of affection seriously. Besides, would you bother with someone who runs his/her social life by modem?

– By way of a friend

Pros: What are friends for but to do your dirty work sometimes?

Cons: Imagine your pal messing up the message. (“I was supposed to say, “Todd thinks you’re awesome’? I thought you said “awful.’ “) Then loverboy/girl is mad at you and you’re mad at your pal.

– By hiring a skywriter

Pros: They’ll remember this one! Even if you don’t get the boy/girl, you can be sure when they’re 1,000 years old, they’ll still be braggingto anyone who will listen about the sky-writing episode!

Cons: Forget about it. Unless your mom or dad happens to be a sky-writer and will scrawl your lovey words in the air for free (oh, riiiiight), you don’t have that kind of money. (If Bill Gates is your uncle or Oprah is your aunt, that’s another story…)
