They wear war paint and have bad, rad haircuts. Think they’re funny-looking? Bet you wouldn’t tell them that to their face!

We’re talking about Hawk and Animal- collectively known as the Road Warriors – of World Championship Wrestling fame. They’re two of the biggest, baddest pro wrestlers around. We got up our nerve recently and asked them (nicely!) about that paint.

“When we started wrestling in 1983, no one else in America was using face paint,” Hawk said. “So we put it on to be different.

“The colors change regularly, but my design signifies my split personality, while Animal’s showcases a spider, which means, “Don’t get caught in our web!’ “

Each dude paints his own face, Hawk said, and it takes about five minutes. The paint lasts for most of a match and comes off when they wash. (We didn’t ask how often that is.)
