Police were looking Monday for a man who entered a locked gas station by throwing a rock through the glass door and beat up the clerk.
Police said the suspect fled the Amoco station at 1804 N. Northwest Highway empty-handed after failing in an attempt to open the cash register. The clerk was treated by paramedics for minor cuts and bruises.
The station was locked as an after-hours security measure, and the clerk was posted at a window to take payments from customers, police said, when the man approached at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday.
The clerk told police his attacker was wearing a purple jogging suit, was about 25 years old and may have fled in a brown Chevrolet sedan.
