player ready...City officials gave preliminary approval Thursday night to a plan by a Chicago company to erect lighted bus shelters at no cost to the city.
The graffiti-resistant shelters will carry advertising, and the city also will get 10 percent of the advertising revenues, according to the proposal.
James Blanchard, sales manager for Illinois Convenience & Safety Corp., said his company could erect between 5 and 10 of the bus shelters as soon as April 1.
Suitable sites will be determined next month if the plan wins final approval then, he said.
