Tim Ryan Jr., a maverick Democrat and courthouse activist, was ruled off the ballot Tuesday for the March primary by the county Board of Election Commissioners.

The board upheld several objections to the nominating petitions of Ryan, a candidate for Circuit Court clerk. The ruling essentially left him with an insufficient number of signatures. Democrat Linda Linford will face GOP incumbent Joel Kagann.
