Despite two close games, the overnight Nielsen ratings for Sunday’s National Football League playoff telecasts were off slightly from last year, according to figures released Monday.
NBC had a 27.7 rating and a 56 share for the Colts-Steelers contest, down 1 percent from the 27.9/56 the network got last year for the Chargers-Steelers AFC final.
Fox, meanwhile, averaged a 33.1/56 for the Packers-Cowboys contest, down 3 percent from last year’s 34.0/57 for the Cowboys-49ers NFC title match.
Despite the warmer-than-usual weather, both telecasts did better in Chicago than nationally. WMAQ-Ch. 5 had a 30.2/61 for Sunday’s AFC telecast, while WFLD-Ch. 32 did a 36.1/59 for the NFC game.
