Aldermen voted unanimously Monday night to accept a $275,000 bid to demolish the Herbert Behrel parking deck. This is the first solid move in an ambitious plan to rehabilitate downtown.
The bid, submitted Jan. 4 by U.S. Dismantlement of Chicago, was the lowest of nine bids submitted for the project.
Mayor Ted Sherwood has said he hopes the unpopular garage would be razed by March.
