First, young cooks need to know the basics:

– Always use microwave-safe cookware.
– Always use potholders to remove food from the microwave.
– Never put hot food from the microwave directly into your mouth.
Hot dogs and baked potatoes are good first lessons for kids. Just pierce before microwaving, to keep them from exploding.
