Chaney-Monge Elementary School District 88 is holding a community forum Tuesday night. One of the issues facing the district this year is a referendum to increase the educational tax rate by 25 cents, to $1.59, Supt. August Tomac said.
In recent years, residents voted down three previous referendum proposals that would have increased the educational tax rate by a larger amount. The school district serves about 450 students, kindergarten through 8th grade.
Residents will vote on the tax increase Nov. 7. The issues forum will be held at 7 p.m. in the elementary school, 400 Elsie Ave., Crest Hill.
