Lake Park 18, St. Charles 17: Sophomore Jonathan Peacock (10 of 17, 140 yards, two TDs) hit Kevin Kauke on a 15-yard scoring strike with 2:21 to play as Lake Park (2-1, 2-1) edged St. Charles (2-1, 2-1) in an Upstate Eight battle.
“Peacock’s grown a lot in our three games,” said Lake Park coach Andy Livingston. “He’s just a true athlete.”
The teams were tied 3-3 at halftime and 11-11 after three quarters. St. Charles’ Scott Allen returned a kickoff 82 yards for a TD for the equalizer.
Kevin Cohoon then scored with 9:14 to play to give St. Charles a 17-11 lead, but Shawn Zilch blocked the point-after kick. Kauke’s TD grab was followed by Kevin Lamb’s PAT.
Hinsdale South 9, Hinsdale Central 7: Brian Rupsis (28 carries, 88 yards) scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter, but when the conversion failed, his foot had to do the rest of the work.

His 45-yard field goal on the final play of the first half proved to be the game-winner as Hinsdale South (2-1) took the West Suburban crossover. The field goal was a yard short of the school record.
“I was shocked myself,” Rupsis said. “I’ve never kicked that long of a field goal before, even in practice.”
Lavar Ammons’ sack with 3:40 to play forced a fumble recovered by Charlie Ruffolo to squelch Hinsdale Central’s final drive.
Brad Jacobson scored to give Hinsdale Central (1-2) the early lead.
Sullivan 18, Curie 14: Lamont Gilliam broke scoring runs of 67 and 52 yards and finished with 245 yards on 21 carries for Sullivan (1-2).
Senn 6, Fenger 0: Sam Vega returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown on the last play of the first half for Senn (2-1). Aaron Dotson gained 114 yards for Fenger (0-3).
Lake View 12, DuSable 8: Michael Clemens scored on an 18-yard run and Angel Jerez returned an interception 74 yards for another score as Lake View improved to 3-0.
Wheaton North 40, West Chicago O: The Falcons (2-1, 1-0) took advantage of five turnovers, including an interception by Glenn Pollard returned for a 25-yard touchdown, to win their DuPage Valley opener.
Pollard also had two 1-yard scoring runs and Jason Whitmer threw for 131 yards and three touchdowns to Jay Westra.
Glenbrook South 28, Maine West 0: Kevin Taylor rolled up 136 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries as South improved to 3-0 with the non-conference win.
Joliet Catholic 21, Notre Dame 6: Larry Whitgrove (42-yard run) and James Randle (64-yard run) broke long touchdown runs in the second half to lead the Hilltoppers to the East Suburban Catholic win. Randle also scored on a 17-yard pass from Andy Tibbot in the second quarter, while Mike Carlin paced Joliet Catholic’s defense with three sacks.
Glenbard North 20, Glenbard East 13: Quarterback Matt Plummer opened the scoring with a 12-yard strike to Jim Tragos and Jeremy Malmstedt scored on runs of 68 and 31 yards as North took the DuPage Valley matchup.
Batavia 35, Riverside-Brookfield 7: Ben Johnson was on a mission, carrying 23 times for 169 yards and three touchdowns for Batavia (2-1, 1-0 in the Suburban Prairie Red).
Morgan Park 20, Bogan 6: Frisman Jackson hit Devin Stemply and Mike Gaines on passes of 65 and 35 yards, respectively, as Morgan Park prevailed in non-conference play.
