A Kane County grand jury indicted a 20-year-old Chicago man this week on a murder charge and five related counts in the shooting death earlier this month of a Wilmette man.
The indictment against Patrick L. Johnson, of 2244 N. Cleveland Ave., charges him with killing 52-year-old Sheldon Raider as the two returned home July 1 from a business trip to Dixon.
State police investigators found Raider’s body hidden under a pile of stuffed animals near the Randall Road overpass in the eastbound lanes of the East-West Tollway in Aurora.
Raider was the owner of Novelty Mirror Inc., and had traveled to western Illinois with his employee, Johnson, to deliver products to a local fair and to collect payments.
Police said robbery may have been a motive in the crime.
Johnson is being held at the Kane County Adult Correction Center without bond.
He is scheduled to appear Friday in Kane County Circuit Court.
