“HIStory” won’t be made with Michael Jackson’s “HIStory: Past, Present and Future-Book I.” A lot of the 15 new songs (there are also 15 greatest hits) sound mean, angry and depressing. (Michael even swears! )
Most of the songs, which are grittier than his earlier work, are answers to the stuff Michael’s been through the last few years.
“Have you seen my childhood?” he asks in “Childhood,” a song in the new “Free Willy” movie. “Money” talks about what evil things people will do to get your cash.
And Michael’s gotten in trouble for “They Don’t Care About Us” for using anti-Jewish words. (He has since apologized and is supposed to re-record the song without the offensive words.)

There are a few nice cuts. You’ve probably already heard and seen “Scream,” which Michael sings with his sister Janet.
Another good one is the love song “You Are Not Alone.” And even “Tabloid Junkie,” which slams all the negative media cover-age on Mike, has a nice, little dance groove.
But at $32.99? Mike should have just cut that price in half and put out just his old hits instead.
