The County Board’s Law and Justice Committee on Thursday voted to hire an outside testing company to create tests to administer to candidates for corrections officer.
The county in the past has created its own tests for applicants for jail positions, but decided to move to an outside company this year to ensure that the tests don’t discriminate against minorities or women, county officials said.
Standard and Associates Inc., a law-enforcement testing company based in Chicago, will design the tests in the next few months if the County Board approves on June 20.
The Law and Justice Committee on Thursday voted unanimously to hire the company for $38,340.
Assistant State’s Atty. Glenn Gable said that hiring an outside company should help prevent future litigation from job applicants by making sure that all job tests are fair.
