Nineteen unincorporated parcels in the former Belmont Highwood Water District should be annexed into the village next month, officials said Monday night.
Owners of the 19 residential properties-bounded by Elmore Avenue, Belmont Road and Wisconsin Avenueall asked to join the village after their wells were disconnected last month. The wells were disconnected after officials discovered high levels of carcinogens in the water. No fees will be charged for the annexation, officials said.
All of the properties have since been connected to Downers Grove’s water supply, said Village Manager Kurt Bressner.
The land that housed the district’s one-time wellhouse will be brought into the village independently in the future, said Ken Rathje, senior director of community development and planning.
Village commissioners are expected to approve the annexation July 10.
