Mayors and village presidents have selected the seven commissioners who will represent the suburbs on the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission.
Four incumbents retained their seats: Libertyville Mayor Jo Ann Eckmann, Lake County representative; Geneva Mayor William Ottilie, Kane County representative; Wheeling Village President Sheila Schultz, north Cook County representative; and Joliet Councilman Anthony Uremovic, Will County representative.
The others are Algonquin Trustee Lyle Clemm, McHenry County representative; Orland Park Village President Kyle Hastings, south Cook County representative; and Villa Park Village President Rae Rupp Srch, DuPage County representative.
The officials were elected Saturday at a meeting in Addison. All will serve until the spring of 1999.
The assembly may select any elected official to fill the commission positions, but only mayors and village presidents can vote. Each member’s vote is weighted according to the population of the member’s suburb.
The planning commission is the comprehensive planning organization for the six-county area.
