The village will pay nearly half the cost of a four-town fireworks display next month, commissioners said.

Downers Grove will pay $9,000 toward the $19,000 cost of a 4th of July display jointly sponsored by the village, Darien, Westmont and Woodridge at Ziegfield Troy Golf Range on 75th Street and Dunham Road in Woodridge. Darien and Westmont will each chip in $2,500, while Woodridge pays $5,000 of the cost, officials agreed.

As the largest of the four communities sponsoring the event, Downers Grove officials said they would absorb the largest portion of the cost.
