Visitors to the village’s Heritage Festival June 23-25 will no longer be able to take a shuttle bus from their front door to the festival grounds, officials said Monday.

The village is eliminating the free neighborhood bus routes, said assistant to the village manager Georgia Ragland, “because we didn’t feel some routes were being used enough.”

Festivalgoers will still be able to park their cars and take shuttle buses from Downers Grove North High School, Downers Grove South High School and the Belmont Road Metra station, Ragland said.

At least 27,000 people used the shuttle buses to and from the fest grounds last year to avoid the parking crush that annually accompanies the heavily attended festival, officials said.
