The McHenry County clerk’s office has scheduled a May 1 recount of a recent referendum in which residents of Barnard Mill narrowly voted to form a village.
A proposal on the April 4 ballot to incorporate the village passed 86-84. The community, east of Greenwood Road, west of Barnard Mill Road and north of Howe Road in northeastern McHenry County, has a population of about 360 people.
County Clerk Katherine Schultz said she would recount the votes in the “Hebron 2” precinct, in which 43 people favored the incorporation and 33 opposed it.
