Village President Sonya Crawshaw recently swore in the newest member of the Hanover Park Police Department, bringing the total number of officers to 44.
Officer William Scott, 25, a former security guard, thanked the board Thursday and told the audience that his new job is a “lifelong dream.”
The opportunity to hire another officer became possible because of a $25,000 federal grant that the village expects to receive annually for three years. The grant is designed to put more police officers on the street throughout the country.
