Police surrounded the building, and officers announced as they stood at the building’s open front door that they were entering the building with the dog. Accompanied by his handler, Schaumburg Officer Michael Bowden and a Mt. Prospect police officer, Major began his search.
About a minute later, police said, Jorge R. Galindo, 26, of 1120 Boxwood Lane, and Enrique Sanchez, 25, of 920 Boxwood Lane, both of Mt. Prospect, were seen trying to flee out the back door. An outside officer ordered them to stop, but the men retreated intoe the building, where they were arrested without further incident, police said.
Major, who also is trained to track scents and sniff out narcotics, was walked throughout the building but did not locate any other suspects, police said.
Galindo and Sanchez allegedly admitted to having cut a lock with a bolt cutter to enter the building, police said. Sanchez told police he had been in the store during normal business hours. Both were charged with felony burglary. Bond was set at $30,000 for Sanchez and $50,000 for Galindo with a court date of April 12.
