Everyone on the Blackhawks was denying a report out of Toronto that goalie Ed Belfour was suffering a “coin pull” rather than the groin pull that is the stated reason for his missing the last two games.
A Canadian television network said Belfour’s contract status was the real reason he was not with the team.
“He has a groin pull,” said coach Darryl Sutter. “That’s what he told me. That’s all I know. All I’ll say is it won’t be a distraction in the room this year.”

“The man’s hurt,” affirmed General Manager Bob Pulford. “When the team comes home (Tuesday) he’ll be here.”
Craven works out: New Hawk Murray Craven worked out Monday in the United Center but did not skate. Joe Murphy, who has missed four games with a groin pull, skated at the UIC rink.
New TV times: The starting times of the five Sunday afternoon games in April, all to be televised by Fox Network, have been moved up from 2:30 to 2 p.m. That includes home games against Dallas April 2 and Detroit April 9.
