Five businesses have been cited for illegally serving alcohol to underage patrons, officials said.

Police arrested five people after an undercover sweep of local restaurants and taverns. During the surprise investigation, village liquor code enforcement officers sent a resident who was under 21 years old into the establishments to buy alcohol.

Charged with unlawful sale of liquor to a minor were Donna M. Boyle, 25, of 3S054 Williams Drive, near Warrenville, an employee of Rosati’s Pizza, 185 E. Lake St.; Dennis Desario, 35, of 407 Ridge Ave., Roselle, an employee of Amalfi’s Restaurant; Marguerite Williams, 51, of 130 E. George St., Bensenville, an employee of Spavone’s Restaurant, 266 W. Lake St.; Michael Ajimor, 24, of 215 S. 44th St., Northlake, an employee of Houlihan’s Restaurant at Stratford Square; and Joyce Wozniewski, 49, of 886 Stratford Circle, Buffalo Grove, an employee of Waves at Indian Lakes Resort, 250 W. Schick Rd.

All five people were released on bond and are to appear in DuPage County Circuit Court. The village Liquor Commission is expected to review the case later this spring.
