Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
It doesn’t take a heavy dose of charisma to make a good first impression. All it takes are a few simple strategies. Here’s some of the advice New York communications consultant Amy Goldberg shares in the February issue of Redbook:
– Maintain eye contact. If you constantly shift your gaze, you’ll appear phony.
– Listen intently. If you’re anticipating what your answer will be, you aren’t focusing on hearing.
– Match the other person’s vocal pace. Regardless of whether you have to speed up or slow down, you’ll put her at ease if you adjust yours to hers.
– Offer compliments. But use restraint. Instead of gushing, simply say, “That’s a great pin.”
