Pace will hold public hearings at three locations Thursday on its proposal to institute a Pace-only monthly pass and to eliminate joint CTA/Pace passes.

Pace officials said they hope to tap a larger share of the suburb-to-suburb commuting market with a Pace-only pass good for unlimited rides on Pace’s fixed-route service for $39 per month.

Senior citizens and the disabled who ride regular Pace buses will be charged a reduced rate of $19.50 for a monthly pass under the proposal. The Pace board is expected to approve the new pass Dec. 7.

Pace has to eliminate the joint passes with the Chicago Transit Authority, because the CTA is eliminating monthly and weekly passes in 1995.

The Pace public hearings will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday in three locations: Des Plaines Civic Center, 1420 Miner St., Des Plaines; Markham Village Hall, 16313 Kedzie Pkwy., Markham; and Forest Park Village Hall, 517 Des Plaines Ave., Forest Park.
