Some businesses near churches or schools might be allowed to sell liquor in the future.
Village Council members said they will consider amending the existing liquor ordinance-which prohibits businesses within 100 feet of a school or church from holding a liquor license-to allow some liquor sales in those areas. Under the exemption, businesses such as restaurants or hotels could sell liquor if it is not their principal activity.
