Village officials are considering allowing a facility to be built that would house adults with moderate developmental disabilities.
Byrn Witt, the owner and president of Witt Partnership Inc., wishes to build a 16-bed facility at 1100 East Ave. for disabled adults capable of living in a more independent, yet structured and supervised setting.
A ranch home would be built on what is now a vacant lot. It would house adults with disabilities such as Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy.

Residents would live in the home under 24-hour supervision. All residents are employed, and many are in active recreational programs, such as the Special Olympics.
Witt Partnership currently operates a 90-bed facility in Rolling Meadows that serves adults with severe physical and developmental disabilities. Witt said he is seeking the smaller home to accommodate those not needing institutionalized care.
