The idea is to look effortlessly elegant while attired in cushy clothes so comfortable they make you feel as if you’ve just stepped out for the night-in your pajamas.
Think pull-on, breezy pants. Over that, toss on a floaty tunic or two. Maybe even a kimono over the whole thing. Leave the jewelry in its box.
But instead of wearing flannel, jazz up your night out-or in-with sheerly iridescent silvers, snazzy pleats, cobwebby sweaters and opulent velvets.
Be creative. Haunt vintage shops for the perfect delicately decorated dressing gown. Or peruse the lingerie department-or the men’s department-for a who-would-ever-know slinky pair of pajamas.
The only rule: Be totally relaxed while looking fab.
And if these clothes make you feel like dancing, well, who’s to stop you?
