When it came to a final decision, Michelle Hasheider had only once choice.
“My heart said to go to Colorado,” said Hasheider, the Okawville All-Stater and the only junior to win the Ms. Basketball award. “That’s where I fit in the best.”
Hasheider, a 5-foot-7-inch guard, signed a letter-of-intent Thursday, selecting Colorado over Stanford and Southwest Missouri State. She averaged 19.3 points, six rebounds and five assists for last season’s Class A state champs.

Contacted by 125 colleges, Hasheider invited a dozen schools for a home visit-including Ohio State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, De Paul and Wisconsin.
Hasheider and three other starters return for Okawville to lead the southern Illinois school’s bid for a repeat, and she is the early favorite to become the first back-to-back Ms. Basketball winner.
New AD: Naperville Central has a new athletic director. He’s Dr. Ted Van Dorn, former cross country and track coach at Homewood-Flossmoor, where he compiled a 188-21 dual-meet cross-country record during 1975-1988. He later served as a principal at Reavis and as a superintendent in the Morris and Grayslake districts. He replaces Ross Truemper, who last week was named an assistant principal at Naperville Central.
