Q. My girlfriend and I enjoy sex and we would very much like to try the side-by-side position you write about often, but we do not find it easy. Maybe we do it wrong. Do I first go into her and then try to turn on our sides? Could you explain it a little more fully? Please don’t suggest a book. I don’t have much money, and my mother would have a fit if she saw it.
A. Another name for this position is the scissor position and maybe if you picture two scissors intersecting, you’ll get an idea of what to do. Since you are having difficulties getting into the position after penetration, I suggest you get into the position first and then penetrate. I can’t give you much more guidance than that, but if you practice I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it. Just make sure that your practice sessions end up being fun and not work.
