Police believe police-threatening graffiti sprayed on two Mt. Prospect schools recently were in retaliation for the arrest of a Des Plaines man who is accused of having been involved with a strong-arm robbery.

Timothy I. Hollins, 23, of 9415 Bay Colony, who was on parole for armed robbery at the time of his arrest Saturday, is charged with two counts of battery and one count of criminal damage to property, according to police.

Police said Hollins and another man stopped two other young men, a 17-year-old and a 24-year-old, while walking outside the Super Fun Arcade, 1825 W. Algonquin Rd.

The unknown offender allegedly ripped a 14-carat gold chain and cross from the neck of one of the victims, and then ran toward an apartment complex in the area. Police said that Hollins reportedly frisked the other victim from head to toe, allegedly looking for something to steal, before allowing the victim to leave.

After police arrested Hollins outside the arcade that evening, Hollins became verbally abusive, kicked the prisoner partition inside the squad car, threatened to kill the officers and then spat upon another officer, police said. He is being held without bond in Cook County Jail until his Tuesday court date.

The graffiti messages sprayed last week on Jay Elementary School, 1835 Pheasant Ter., and Holmes Junior High School, 1900 W. Lonnquist Blvd., allegedly targeted specific police officers involved in Hollins’ arrest. Police are still searching for the other suspect in the Super Fun Arcade incident.
