A shortcut for central Kane County motorists seeking a path to the East-West Tollway will remain closed for the next month while construction crews realign the street.
The Kane County Division of Transportation is rebuilding Deerpath Road between Seavey and Nelson Lake Roads in western Batavia Township.
The $145,000 project will eliminate two 90-degree turns that motorists had to make where Deerpath intersected with the other two roads, replacing it with an S-curve.
“The traffic there needs a clear curve to merge,” said county Transportation Director Nabi Fakroddin. “This will give us continuity instead of stop-and-go, stop-and-go all the time.”
Fakroddin said residents of east-central Kane County use the Deerpath-Seavey Road connection to get to Illinois Highway 47, where there are exit and entrance ramps for the tollway.
