The city plans to trade land with a popular business downtown to make room for more parking near the Fox River.
The trade would involve moving Mill Race Cyclery not far from its present location at East State and Water Streets to a lot north and east, closer to Illinois Highway 25.
“It’s always been a known fact that we need more parking in that area,” said Christine Jefferies, Geneva’s economic development director. “It’s right by the riverwalk and bike path, which makes it a natural draw for visitors.”
The project is part of the city’s tax-increment financing redevelopment plan and will be the subject of a public hearing at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 3 at City Hall.
