Marcus Smith carried 31 times for 193 yards and two touchdowns Saturday to lead Bolingbrook to a 14-0 victory over Lockport in a SICA West game.
Smith filled in for tailback Nii Hammond, who was sidelined with a knee injury. “He (Smith) stepped in for Nii and did a great job,” said coach Phil Acton of Bolingbrook (2-1, 1-0). “We’ve had 13 straight tailbacks rush for 1,000 yards, so there’s a tradition. And the kids know that the tailback is going to get the ball.
“It was a bunch of kids up front (offensive linemen) that did their best job of the year, and Marcus took advantage of it.”

“Our execution on the option and pass plays is much, much better,” said Waukegan coach John Neff. “Our offense has gotten better every week. This was a good challenge. They came at us, and our offense had to respond.”
“Waukegan’s for real,” said Deerfield coach Jamie Harrington, whose team is 0-3. “They don’t give you anything easy. They fight you for every inch.”

“The last two weeks all we’ve been doing is running, and Fremd knew it,” Mishler said. “At the beginning of the game, they had all their guys up at the line of scrimmage. Their game plan was definitely to stop the run.”
Joe Chambers gained 121 yards on 12 carries for Fremd (1-2). Dan Mangino paced Hoffman’s 214-yard rushing attack with 74.
Glenbard South 40, West Chicago 24: Michael Hearn scored on runs of 25, 65 and 74 yards, and Norm Aliga added a 90-yard kickoff return touchdown to lead Glenbard South (2-1, 1-0) in the Du Page Valley. Adam Owens scored on a 68-yard punt return for West Chicago (1-2, 0-1).
