Picture perfect: There’s a perfect little park in the heart of Hinsdale, thanks to a bequest from the late Eleanor L. Swartz, who left $125,000 to the village for parks’ beautification.

“Grant Park was part of a parcel of land given to the village by Hinsdale Federal Savings & Loan in 1950,” said Chuck Dobbins, village manager. “It served as a buffer between commercial and residential property, but it was underdeveloped until this summer.”

President of The Garden Club of Hinsdale in 1963, Swartz stipulated in her will that the club should be consulted regarding plans and designs for park projects funded by her gift.
